Canon Rebel XSi / 450D

Anyone tried one yet? I'm thinking of going with the Sigma 8mm and one of these, and was wondering if anyone had any experiences to share.

Thanks in advance.

Hi New2this,
Are you shooting 4 plus a nadir and zenith, or did you tilt the camera up slightly to fill the zenith?

Hi Vince,

Shooting 5, although I am sure 4 would probably work. The camera is tilted up around 12 degrees which fills up the zenith. I only shoot the nadir if the floor has many details and is required by the client. Normally I just cover the nadir with their logo.

thanks, it's nice to find out something will work (or not!) BEFORE you buy it.

Hi Vince,

I bought the Xsi last week and I have tried it with a Sigma 8mm. I also have the XT and the XTi.

The Xsi is very similar to the XT & XTi with a few new features and some more Mps.

The main differences being a larger display, live view function, uses SD memory cards and the battery is different.

Taken a few panos already with this setup and the results are good.

For the price of the camera (under 850 USD with a lens) it's a good buy. There are some reviews at www.bhphotovideo.com

I just shot some test images with a XSi, and it looks like this camera uses Cannons CR2 RAW format. How do those of you that have this camera deal with this. Do you use Cannons RAW converter, shoot jpg, or do you use a blending program that handles CR2? I have been using XFuse (for Mac) and it does not look like it handles CR2, and PW 5 does not appear to handle it either.

CR2's are Canon's Raw image format.   We use adobe photoshop cs3's camera raw converter to convert them to 8 bit tif's.
