Is there any chance of future versions of Panoweaver being able to stitch 3-shots taken with a digital SLR and 8mm lens or with a Nikon Coolpix in F2 mode with the fisheye lens?  If the vertical FOV is 180 degrees in portrait orientation, is there enough horizontal overlap to allow stitching these three shots?  Panoweaver would have to know how to ignore the black areas at each side of the circles.

If this was possible, the maximum achievable image resolution would be much greater, and it seems as though the number of potential customers would greatly increase.

We shoot images with our Canon Eos 1ds and a fisheye 8mm from Sigma.

So you can get as many shots as you want...

But here is a new question: since a 180?fisheye lens results in darker edges, we try to compensate this in photoshop with a reverse level mask.

But I suppose there are better and/or easier solutions to this problem.

Hi Jeremy,

Your nodal point is out a little. Looks like "sideways" movement but hard to tell looking at your pano. Movement is only a very little bit, maybe only 1mm. Visit Dave's site and look at his method's http://www.360texas.com/tips/nodalpts.htm circle method is best. If you don't have a circle make one from a "tin lid" off Jam or Coffee can etc. Make sure to drill the hole in the exact centre and place under your camera. You have it correct when you have a perfect circle.

Hi Smooth and all,

Been away from this forum for a few months and just returned to see talk of DSLRs and full screen stuff.
Do I take this to mean that the next release will include
will include full screen output from, say a1DS and 8mm? If so, I'll be selling my coolpix, lens, head etc and buy the Sigma.

Regards

Hi Neill,

Long no visit? See you hanging on other forums! LOL

Full screen output was always possible with the 1Ds Canon and Sigma 8mm.

But with the emanate release of Panoweaver 4.0 you can output full screen panoramas with Canon, Pentax, Nikon, Fuji etc Digital SLR cameras with the 1.5 and 1.6 multiplying (crop factor) fitted with Sigma 8mm.

Also available with be the use of Nikon DSLR fitted with Nikkor 10.5mm Fisheye.

Yup, start selling and get your Digital SLR warmed up.

Regards, Smooth

So if you're stitching in Panoweaver, how d'you output a full screen VR? D'you need Quicktime Pro?
Ever since I saw some excellent work by Jook Leung, it kind of knocked my plug in for using the Coolpix, good though it is.
So anyone want to buy a Coolpix 4500, fisheye and Kaidan head? :)
