Tripod Caps

Can anybody give me some design parameters (for eg. font size) that works well when designing the tripod caps? To use the transparency option (in other words a round cap verses a square one) your limited to saving the files in the highly compressed Gif format. I don't know about you guys but my attempts have turned out as doggy doo doo. Also when the image is placed into the pano the exterior edges appear rough as well. Any feedback would be muchly appreciated. Also is anybody using the Kaiden 990 pano head?

Thanx Jack

On images with a rough pattern around the tripod I use Photoshop to clone the legs out in the original images. On images that have complex patterns I use the gif images. I have some info on the exact specs of gif on my website under the Radio section. Here is some advise first you can scale the gif within Panoweaver so I use 200pix by 200pix as the image size using Photoshop I created a circular path then filled it with a single webcolor. Then I created the text in a nonserif font with crisp antialiasing. I used 18point font size next I applied filters to the path layer creating a beveled effect. The bevel colors were choosen in the blue and red web color groups. Next I saved for web preserving transparancy and used adaptive color setting with 256 colors. Also no matte color this will give you a smooth circle with readable text. With my image and tripod settings the floor setting of 36 just covers the unwanted parts. Hope this helps...
