Canon 20d RebelXT(350d) Firmware updates

You probably already know this but I will mention it here anyway.

20d and XT (350d) Firmware updates are available from Canon.

I missed an update or 2. These firmware updates include the prior updates.

20d to firmware version 2.0.3

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0510/05102702canon_20d20dafw203.asp

XT (350d) to firmware version 1.0.3

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0510/05102701canon_350dfw103.asp

Besure to follow the procedure - removing the lens and have full battery or charger on hand etc. The PDF instructions are easy to follow.

Tis a shame that .cr2 still can not be opened in PSCS.  Any one have craked version of PSCS2 I can have to open my RAW images ?

If I only had an hour to chop down a tree... I'd spend 45 mins sharpening the axe.

I can open .cr2's in PSCS2 Bridge (4 or more at a time) and PSCS Browser (1 at a time).  You need to download the free Adobe Camera Raw converter from Adobe to be able to do this.

Or you can convert from .cr2 to TIFF .dwg using Adobe's free converter.

BUT as I understand it Raw Shooter 2005 is better and its free too.

@360texas, can you provide me with some more detailed info on how you are using PSCS to open .cr2 files.  Below I have listed two quotes from adobe RAW convert download page.

1.  Photoshop CS2 ships with the Camera Raw 3.0 plug-in. Those using Photoshop CS will need to upgrade to Photoshop CS2 to use the Camera Raw 3.1 plug-in.

2.  Camera Raw 3.1 is not compatible with Photoshop CS.

Thanks a bunch,

Opening 20d .cr2 Raw images in PSCS uses Adobe Camera Raw version 2.4.  With 2.4 you can only open 1 image at a time so if you take 4 images  you will have to write down each of the ACR values for the first one,  then apply them to 2,3 and 4 individually.   At the time only 20d .cr2 files would work.  The Rebel XT (350d) had not yet released and was not in the ACR 2.4 camera file format profiles.

With PSCS2 ACR 3.0 loading of 4  20d .cr2 Raw images worked fine but still reported it was using 2.4 .cr2 camera profiles.  I think the Rebel XT (350d) file format .cr2 profile could not be read.

With ACR 3.1 the Rebel XT (350d) profile finally got on the support list.

All of this is moot anyway.  You can use Adobe's  DNG Camera Raw converter  3.1 to convert the 350d's .cr2 format to .DNG file type which can be read by PSCS.

OR..simple answer =  just use Raw Shooter.
