Hi Micheal,  Well when you create a QTVR the applet code has an automatic plugin redirect line it.  Look for this line of code:

Object
    classid="clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B" width="408" height="286"
    codebase="http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab">

Also, FLASH has similar classid line with .swf files

Correct me if Im wrong but Java either works or doesnt work depending on if it is installed on their machine.  I know IE Java Virtual Machine does not redirect.  Sun Java might have a redirect to their download page.  I have even seen some peoples pages that say "IF you can't see this.. click here to go to Sun Java download page.

I think also on pages using a special plugin viewer like iSeemedia they have a redirect, but its all manual download and install.

Hope this helps

Dave

Hi Dave... I've stumbled across a few pages (couldn't see the code) that tested to see if I had Java, QT, Flash and then told me so and oofered me the choise of connection. I'm sure t'here is some script relating to that somewhere...

Hi, Everybody,

I havent been here for quite a while as I was busy producing a wildlife video production. Well, I'm happy to be back now to panorama work.

I remember that there are several scripts out there for java detection. Try the following 2 URLs:

http://www.skyzyx.com/scripts/java.php

http://www.demicron.com/javadetection/

I myself have used another one before but cannot find it right now. I will let you know when I come across it again.

Regards

Holger
