Does anyone know of any JAVA spherical viewer that allow progessive download like the way quicktime does?

At http://iSeeMedia.com get the version 4 viewer of panoapplet.jar  it permits progressive jpeg compression type images to be displayed properly. It also requires an associated .ivr file.

BTW the .jpg standard has 3 compression methods:

"Baseline" a standard to use a format recognized by most browsers

"Optimized" a standard to optimize the color quality of the image and produce a slightly smaller files.  Process not generally supported in all browsers.

"Progressive' a standard to create an image that displays gradually as it is downloaded in a series of scans showing increasing detail versions of entire image progressively.  Jpeg images are slightly larger in filesize requiring more RAM for viewing and not supported by all applications and browsers.

Probably more than you would really want to know, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Thanks Dave for the precious advice.

However any idea could I have my own splash logo on the panoapplet.jar, like ptviewer?

Thanks again...

Ahhh its only the 44kb panoapplet.jar that you need to display the panorama.  You also need an associated .ivr which actually is the display parameter control files.  They work together.

Yes panoapplet.jar uses a param called 'altSplash' value = filename.jpg  which is usually a small 300 x 400  8 - 10kb logo file.  altSplash is the same param as 'Wait' when you use ptViewer.jar

Yes the zoompanoapplet.jar does require a self standing server and iSeeMedia software license to display a limited number of filename.FPX  images.  I don't think thats what your looking for.

BTW.. have you tried using a progressive formatted .jpg file with ptViewer.jar.  I have not tried.

Thanks Dave,

I am not sure whether I have done the correct thing by saving the panorama in propgressive mode, but it does not load progressively...

I visited your website and realise the newest Virtual Tour of yours uses the iseemedia applet, did you do a progressive load there?

I also know that I could do hotspot using the panoapplet.jar, i only managed to hotspot to a website, do you know of anyway I could hotspot to another panorama without loading a new page like the ptviewer?

thanks
