Selecting the Correct Lampshade
One of the best ways to change the look of a room is to buy new lampshades.
A new lamp shade can not only offer a better appearance for the specific lamp it is in, but it can also improve the lighting in the room by increasing or decreasing the amount of light emitted by the lamp. Most of the emphasis in lamp decisions focuses on the decorative and aesthetic features they offer. Focusing only on the appearance of the lamp shade, however, can cause problems in the future.
Let's take a look at the details to ensure that you are not wasting your valuable time in making your decision.
Measure. Measure. Measure. What may be the easiest step in the process is usually the one that was skipped. It is necessary to measure the lampshade to make sure they fit into your device. The screens have three different measures that you should consider when buying:
The upper diameter.
The lower diameter.
The length of the side.
You can order a custom tone, but you may be able to find a general color size in stock that works. You can always consult screen sources such as All-Lite for the measurements of a tone you are thinking of buying.
You will also want to consider what material your screen is made of when dealing with the amount of light you would like the lamp to produce. The screens come in a variety of materials such as glass, linen, burlap, porcelain, shantung, glass, rustic fabrics, translucent, metallic, greased scrolls, leather, exotic and smooth papers, and many other types of fabric.
Once you have the measurements and the type of material you would like the lamp shade to be made of, now is the time to select the correct connection.
Types of accessories for lampshade:
The accessory is simply how the screen of your lamp will connect to your lamp. There are three ways in which this can be achieved and now we are going to explain it directly.
The most common screen accessory is called Spider. It has elevators attached to the harp to change the size of the shadow. This is a desirable accessory if you plan to use different lampshade at different times of the year.
A screen of Uno does not use the harp and cannot be resized, since it is connected directly to the socket of the lamp. This type of shadow is usually seen in smaller lamps. You can see a Clip-on connection in both large and small lamps, as well as chandeliers. The accessory fits directly to the bulb.
Other design and safety tips to consider:
The height of the lamp shade should be approximately 3/4 of the height of the base. You want to leave a space of at least three inches between the curtain and the bulb so that the screen does not become a fire hazard. Having said that, also keep in mind that glass and crystal screens require smaller bulbs.
The screens are very versatile. You can use them in accessories that you may not have considered using them. Like a candlestick, for example. The old Western style lamps used lamps routinely.
