Hello!

Sorry for the delay - had some urgent matters.
I made a demo which is implementation of the things i was talking theoreticaly. It is quite easy to make google street view and TW integration. And after some couple of hours of creation and research i've made this demo:
http://www.virtualivizija.lt/demo/scontrol3/
Walk towards Astor place and enter cafee. You will see a church instead of cofee interior, but that's only because i live far far away that place and in my country we have no street view :(
Click on the red hotspot in order to back to the street view.
Any suggestions?

Best wishes,
Madmux

Hi Madux, nice work and this is exactly what I am trying to achieve. There are some issues with accurate pinpointing of markers. If you had a situation of two shops next to each other I think as you go passed them that the markers would not align very well. I am hoping that maybe EP will explore this further so we can place hotspots within Street View similar to your demo and can work on it to refine such issues.

Thanks again Madux

Just a thought Madux, it would be interesting to see the effect on having more than one marker, say 3 or 4. Is this something you could do?

Markers are assigned to the coordinates (not to the buildings) and are controled by google maps software, therefore there is not much we can do. Maybe add/remove markers according to the distance (in the case we have lots of markers).
I don't know, why you think so, but Markers should allign well. Nearest markers will be bigger, farther - smaller. So, a viewer can easily distinguish which building he is actually entering. But that's just my opinion :)
Ok, i'll try to add several more markers and we will see what happens.

Ok, i i've made several adjustments to that demo:
* different approach to changing views - now everything should by ok for those whose browsers did not show previous version properly.
* added 2 additional markers near the caffe.
* added 2 additional scenes to the tour.

It happened that i added markers a bit into the street, but for the demo i think it's ok. Try viewing these markers and clicking on them. Once inside a tour scene look for red hotspot to exit back to the street.

P.S.1.: Clear browser cache if you did run previous version.
P.S.2.: Also i have a tool (created it some time ago) which could be useful for google maps marker creation: http://www.arzinai.lt/useful/geocreator/geocreator.html

Hey Madmux,

am jealous of your programming talents ;-) sigh... I have yet so much to learn. However, i like the thinking here... with all the panos out there... would be amazing if all were linked in.
If I only had an hour to chop down a tree... I'd spend 45 mins sharpening the axe.

Hey guys, thanks for support! :)
Regarding linking the tours - it is a bit problematic with the panoramic software diversity. On the other hand it's quite easy to create a layer of earth virtual tours for google maps. I'm doing it for my own projects under the name "our virtual tour geography".
Virtual tour geography Along with a directory of panorama makers - that would be a good project!

Best wishes,
Madmux

Madmux, you are a fantastic explorer indeed. EP, why you don't make an offer to this guy to improve your talents?!
