Yes we have 2  990's.   We started noticing them after 12,000 images.

The way we tested was to take several photos with the lens cap ON.  Then by comparing these images we started to detect where they were located.  Fortunately, they were located in random areas of the images (same randomness found in each photo).

Our conclusion was to use photoshop to just fix them.

We did talk to another photographer about this issue.  His position was that he was getting too many stuck pixels even for photoshop around 20,000 images.

You will also notice that we upgraded to Canon 20d and 350d last fall, but it was not because of our Nikon 990's hot pixels.

im going to try fixing it with the corrector above and will post results.

i did do the pixel finder test by putting the cap on, using 8 seconds, and iso of 400 and 100. with 400 looks like your looking a dark sky with many stars...pretty neat.

u know where i can download "Nikon View 3"?  when i connect 990 via us

For Nikon Software downloads, go to the following URL and select your camera model and then select "software downloads":

http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?goingto=dtc_home

You said version 3, but they are up to version 6.2.6, so to be up to date you would need to download 6.2.1 full verion, and then get the 6.2.6 updater.

Can't add anything to the "fixing" part of the thread but for "detecting" there's an excellent free dead pixel test utility available from StarZen.

LOL

StarZen's program is a little old now but it's the only one I can find and it seems to work fine on current cameras.
