Could anyone please advise on the following

I have the hardware for panos (350d, sigma 8mm, mctps) but the software is another matter- can I produce acceptable tours (by this I mean ones that are good enough to sell commercially) using ONLY Panoweaver and Tourweaver. I see most on here use Photoshop amongst others, but as the outlay for the above is 650ish I cannot afford this aswell. Also time is of essence for the real estate game so less processing required the better.

I know its a bit like how long is a piece of string but any advice is greatly appreciated.

Is there a website that uses only these 2 programs that I can look at?

Also if anyone can give me a rough time estimate to produce a basic tour from taking the photos to the finished product I would be very grateful. (eg 4 panos (cylindrical will do)

many thanks to all

Photoshop is used for the following reasons things.

  • Removing tripod
  • Adding Logo/Cap Image
  • Correcting stiching errors (yes sometimes there are)
  • Sharpening images
  • Correcting exposure (make underexposed shots brighter)
  • Reducing noise
  • Removing ghost people/cars (things that moved when taking the shot)

If you don't want to do any of this. You will be fine with only PW and TW. But its like going to a restaurant for a green saled. As soon as you see the tomatos and all other salads at the salad bar you want more.

I also think that a good hardware setup deserver a good post production.

I dont know if my description of the string lengths is of any help :-)

Regards Markus

If budget is an issue,  suggest you might consider PhotoShop Elements 3.  It will do 'almost' what photoshop does.  It even uses Adobe Camera Raw conversions for Canon 350d CR2 and Nikon .nef +more

Use PS Elements 3 (around $100 not including any rebates) for a year... set some money aside for buying Photoshop CS version what ever comes next year.

When you buy PS the learning curve will be quite easy because PS Elements 3 uses almost the same tools as PSCS2.

Hope that helps

Gimp is free, you have to invest time to learn it.

True,  I forgot about GIMP.  I think if you do a google search on GIMP you will find it in Sourceforge website.

Another good program to convert the stitched image with several options (including hotspots) into Quicktime is Pano2QTVR
