All I can say is WOW!!!!!!

According to Ed he did these with a helipcopter.

If I could do this I am certain I could make some big bucks. I am looking into a blimp set up now. It will take some investment but I think the potential for profit is great.

I have 2 ideas about making aerial panos.

The first is : you have 2 cams (or 3, better) under the copter, with fihseye lenses. And you take the 2 or 3 shots simultaneously, a lot of shots...

I think you dont have any nodal point problem, because all the objects are very far, quite at the infinite. Then you only have to add a sky. If you have made a sky's library, you'll certainly find a sky that corresponds.

The second one : you make only one fisheye shot, but you shoot the ground direction : all the ground is inside the pic, you only have to add the sky. But in that case, I don't know how you can turn the pano : perhaps in cubic mode, you just ahve to "rotate" the cube.  Should be tried.

Hi Phil,

I searched for helicopter also. Found some older stuff there. I wish Rotopix would give us a few tips on shooting from a helicopter.

I have a fiew clients who are interested in this. But I have no idea how to go about shooting froma helicopter.

The kite technique looks very cool. A lot less than renting a helicopter. As time permits I fully intent to try some kite stuff.

This site has all the info you need to do kite panos. I am studying it now and looking into assembling a rig like his. If anyone else here is interested we can get a little forum going that I could host so we can discuss the specifics of this. Just a place to exchange info. Anyone interested??

Hi General,

What about lifting the camera equipment with a baloon inflated with gas? This could be interesting and kind of easy to fly also what do you think?

Alex.

I read about someone who thought about using a helium balloon, forget were but there main conclusion was helium tanks can work out quite expensive. Which is presumably why kites are more popular.
