You can actually walk through the space and look around at any point. What software is doing this?

From their FAQ:

"motionVR is produced using our proprietary software; however motionVR video can be viewed on most computers without installation of any additional software. The viewing format is Flash. "

Very,

Not completely sure but it might be created with a single shot lens with images linked. Check out this:

http://360vr.com/spriteorama/

There is a reference to how it was created and the technology used at the bottom of the page that reads:

camera: CoolPix990 |
mirror: Remote Reality |
timelapse: Harbortronics 2000 |
QuickTime Pro: 6fps |
SpriteOrama track by VRHotwires

I found some info at VR4Technology:
http://www.vr4technology.com/index.html

According to the news on this site in "April 2005 VR4 Technology IP was purchased by Vancouver, BC based motionVR Technology Corporation. See http://www.motionVR.com for release dates and product details." In March 2005 a free trial version of the software was available at http://www.3DmotionVR.com (link no longer active).

So it looks like some create a new application and motionVR.com bought it and is not releasing it as an application rather they are using it for their business.

I sent them an email asking if the software is available. Their news section on their site says they intend to distribute it worldwide.

You guys are overlooking the real part.  It's not just about the software but about the motorized camera mounted chair (that's what it looks like to me) that does this.  That's why the movement is not fluid but in 90 degree angles.  Here's a link that will answer your questions.

http://www.mentorwave.com

My best guess is that these companies using this technology aren't going to sell you anything but their service.  This is a software and hardware combination.

No it's not that complicated. I received a reply from the company and they are lisencing the use of the software in North America: http://www.explorehomes.com/

I think it's similar to the deal you get with RealTourVision.com. You buy their equipment and software and you pay a usage fee. You can post to their server and if I understand them correctly you can host it on your own server. I am going to be awy for the next few days, but I will call them next week to get more details. Of course, anyone of you can call them yourself.

I'm starting to like flash more than java, do to the increase market reach flash offers.

In addition, i feel flash offers a lot more creative flexibility.

Now, the motionvrtours is flash based but has some improvements to make.

The little arrow guidelines dont always work in the right direction.

Mentorwave, is AWSOME compare to anything i've seen lately.

However, is a java based, might required a very large startup investment, and still has to be determined if you can host the tours on your own server or has to be theirs.

The idea is interresting, but I think the samples we have here are crappy quality, the windows are small, it's very far from QUicktime high res tours!!!
