What batteries or brands do you guys use for the Nikon 5000?

I'm looking for long lasting rechargeable ones.

I hear the battery grip with the 6 AA batteries inside is a good option.

Hi there

I have one genuine EN-EL1 and 6 other manufacturer ones.  They are cheap as chips on ebay.  You do need the proper recharger though as the 'fake' ones dont force the battery to 'clip' into place and this can result in them not being charged.

So I need the proper NIKON charger, but I can buy the cheap batteries?

The ones you buy,

How long do they work for fully charge?

What is the total life span in time before they stop working?

Thanks.

Hmm

Not sure what the total life span is and they dont last more than an hour or so (as opposed to 2 with my genuine one) BUT i can get 10 for the price of one genuine one...b

I use the 1100 ma batteries from Sterlingtek.com

It lasts much longer than the stock battery. Cost is cheap.
