I've bought the Sigma 8mm/3.5 EX DG Fisheye on a full frame Canon 5D, but it doesn't seem to be able to produce 180 degrees. More like 160 degrees, since I'm forced to photograph at least 3-4 images to cover a full circle.
I also won't get full cover at top and bottom neither, so I thought I'd go with the "Drum Fisheye" alternative in Panoweaver (even though my images are actually circular), since that is the only Fisheye alternative that enables you to add additional top+bottom image cover.

The result is this;

ie; an added dark area between the top/bottom images and the full circle pano.
I wonder if this is because I've chosen to process circular images as drum images?

The top and bottom images are actually cropped by the added dark area;

(Yes, I've marked the fisheye image enclosing in Panoweaver)

....So what to do?
Can I achieve full spherical 360 degree panos (with top and bottom covered) with the current hardware or do I have to fetch another lens/camera?

Hi Tinwe,  Welcome to the forum.

Also let me welcome you to the SIGMA 8 Club?

We too have a Sigma 8mm and a Canon 5d.  And I think I know your issue.

Put the lens on the camera.  Now remove the lens cap.

Are you holding 1 or 2 pieces of the lens cap?

The lens cap is made from 2 pieces.  A disk and a ring.  The friction ring holds the disk cap in place.  Be sure to remove BOTH RING AND DISK cap.  Now you should get a full 180 degree view.

If this is so.... then welcome to the Sigma 8 Club.  Yes I too did this.. but ONLY the first time.

Now you can use Panoweaver's full circle stitching option.  Not the drum option.

How can I ever be so stupid!
I demand a punishment! o.o

Great thanks, you made my day.
I even phoned up Sigma and their techies didn't have a fantiest idea why my lens wouldn't produce 180 degrees, themselves.

Panoweaver - Here I come!

Luckily mine fell apart in my hand during a couple test shoots.  That's how I found out that the ring and cap were seperate.  Glad it happened early on!
