I'm currently using a 20D with Canon's 15mm fisheye. Producing cylindrical panos is no problem but full spherical is hit and miss despite using a 360Precision head. Stitching 30 images for a spherical pano invariably produces some errors no matter what software I use. Plus I've yet to integrate a down shot into a spherical pano having to cover the head with a logo instead.

I'm considering a Sigma 8mm and Panoweaver to ease and speed up the spherical pano process. Are there any viewable examples of Panoweaver, full screen, 20D + 8mm panos, please?

Also can anyone recommend a good tripod head for the 20D & Sigma 8mm combination, please? I could upgrade the 360Precision head but it'd be a pain to convert if I want to use both the 15mm and 8mm lenses on the same shoot.

Any input would be appreciated.

Could you be using too much overlap?

suggests two rows or eight shots at -30degrees and +30 degrees plus one up and one down making 18 shots. 30 Sounds like allot. Most stitchers do have trouble if there is too much overlap.

Theres no reason why you shouldn't be able to make nice panoramas with your setup.

Thanks for the link: it's in my delicious bookmarks now.

Call me too trusting (possibly naive) but I assumed that as the 360Precision head had 9 physical stops with 3 pitch positions + N&Z then that's what I needed.

Therefore I'm currently shooting: N, 9 images at 0 pitch, 9 at +45 pitch, 9 at -45 pitch, Z. This accords with the head's built in "stops". Surely 360Precision haven't got this wrong?

EDIT: Acquired the latest version of PTGui (Pro version 7beta) which just stitched a quick spherical pano for me perfectly from 28 shots.

However, this still leaves me with the problem of exterior panos which are near impossible except on completely still days with no people around. Hence the reason for wanting to see the quality of the Sigma lens.

You asked about the Canon 20d and Sigma 8. Pan head is similar. Look for Canon 20d and Mrotator TCPshort .pdf when you visit this page.

Ok.. I was just trying to answer your initial searching question Canon 20d and Sigma ---- now with full screen.

While these are restricted by clients request to 640 x 480.. they easily can be displayed full screen flavor with some html code changes. But for now you can see the quality of the Sigma 8f3.5
