Just thought I would mention that we will be out of country between 2 - 8 March 2008.

Here is a monopod arrangement that I find good for traveling.  The lens is tilted up 5 degrees to cover the zenith area.  That will create a larger nadir hole after stitching 4 images at 90 degrees.  We are taking the Sigma 8mm f 4.0 lens because we like the SUN star burst affect.  Besides if the lens gets damaged we still have the better f3.5 safe at the office.

ONLY draw back I find with this monopod arrangement.. there is no place to carry a 6 pack of Dos XX beer.

The Canon 350d has a 1.622 (not a 1.6) crop factor.  The Sigma 8mm f4 is a full circle fisheye image.  This 8mm lens is effectively 35mm lens a 12.976mm lens .  The circle image will not fit inside the rectangle sensor. The left and right sides are cropped to make a "drum" type image to sitch.  Keeping the camera in portrait provides more vertical field of view while still maintaing about 25 - 30 percent overlap between adjacent images.

To answer your question 350d or full frame 5d.

Both 350d and 5d shoot RAW.  For internet use... 350d is good enough.  Want high quality imaging use the 5d.  AND shoot RAW convert to TIF.

Using a APS-C small sensor DSLR like the 350D, 400D, D40, D70 etc you need to shoot in portrait mode so that you can cover the sphere in 4 shots (Drum) to make your 360x180 panorama image.

There is no way to cover the full sphere using Panoweaver with an APS-C small sensor camera in landscape orientation.

Using a 5D or D3 full size sensor DSLR camera and Sigma 8mm you can have the camera in either Landscape or Portrait orientation because the image being captured is a full circle/bubble and you will cover the full sphere 360x180 in 3 shots (Circular) to create the panorama image.
