Hi All.

Desperate help required here please!!

I am looking at getting the Canon EOS 450D camera with the intention of creating virtual tours using both Panoweaver and Tourweaver. Firstly, does anyone know how this camera rates for the job and which would be the best lens for it? I am thinking the Sigma AF 8mm f3.5 EX DG or the Sigma AF 8mm f4 EX DG ?? Also, which would be the best pano head and tripod?

I have searched the forums and found some old posts regarding some of this equipment and some of it is not available anymore so any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Woz.

Hi Wozzaj,

We still use our 350d 8mp with the Sigma 8mm fisheye lens.  EOS 450d is the newest version in this camera line.

The Sigma 8 f/4 is no longer in production.  The Sigma 8mm f/3.5 is its replacement.   We use both f/3.5 and f/4.0

We use a Manfrotto 3001d tripod,  is replacement I think is the 190 xxx something.  You should also consider using 'quick release' devices on the tripod top.  Something like this

It will also be benificial to invest in a leveling head for the tri-pod.  I use this one

Thank you for point out this Canon EOS 1000 camera.  I had not seen it before today.

only 450 grams of fat in that camera.  That is a very light weight camera.

DIGIC III color processor is important.

The 450d also uses the SD compact flash card.   I have so many standard Compact Flash cards..  what would I do with all of them ?

Your welcome sir

I think that Canon is targeting the point and shoot users with the SD card.  It would not pay for me to throw away all of my CF cards and go to SD

Hey, have you talked with Smooth lately?  Have not seen him around for a while.

Dave and Pixelator - thanks for the advice, I'll take all this on board.

I am wondering if there is anyone that is using the 450 that may want to contribute and tell me what kind of results they are getting.

Thanks again guys,

Woz
