I'm considering buying a new laptop.  64 bit.

Will I have any problems running Panoweaver ?

Are all 64 bit systems backward compatable ?

I'm considering this HP:

To my knowledge from those I speak with using 64 bit and Easypano products there appears to be no problem.

Other than Quicktime VR which up till now is not supported.

Hi sseabaugh

And welcome to the forum.

I have been running Panoweaver and Tourweaver on a 64bit system for a couple of months now and found that everything works fine. I am running them on a pre release of Windows 7 (64bit). The only problem with the 64bit platform is there is not yet a 64bit Flash plugin released by Adobe, so you will have to use a 32bit browser.

I use Lightroom 64bit without a problem, but the noise reduction plugin wont run in Photoshop CS4, so I am forced to use the 32bit version.

I had a look at the laptop and note it is loaded with Vista Home Premium. I would recommend Windows 7 professional because of XP mode (for your other legacy applications) and networking to a domain. The free upgrade offered by HP will only be to the equivalent level in Win 7 (ie Windows 7 Home Premium) unless you decide to upgrade to Vista Ultimate.

Regards, Willie
