Hi

I need to create a higher resolution panorama than from the usual fisheye. It is from a golf course green and I will need to use a standard zoom lens for the shoot. Does anyone know how many images and rows will I need to take for a full 360x180 spherical panorama ?
I have a Nikon D300s and a multi row pano head. I can use either a Nikon 17-55mm lens or a Sigms 10-20mm lens.
If anyone has any experience of this setup or any advice to offer, that would be greatly appreciated.

With the 10-20mm you would need to shoot:

8 images every 45 degree click stops and at -30 degree tilt down, 8 images every 45 degree at +30 degree tilt up, then a Nadir and Zenith shot. Making it 18 images when shot at 10mm.

The 17-55mm would require:

9 images every 40 degree click stops and at -50 degree tilt down, 9 images every 40 degree click stops and at 0 degrees (level), 9 images every 40 degree click stop and at +50 degree tilt up, then a Nadir and Zenith shot. Making it 29 images when shot at 17mm.

You can always work out any lens or different zoom levels using a panorama lens calculator.
