My very old Slick Master tripod just died a slow death. My very understanding and loving wife blessed me by giving the OK to purchase a new tripod.
I looked local, where I try to make all of my purchases, and the heaviest duty and reasonably priced was a Giottos MT 9261 for about 175US.
Has anyone had any experience with this brand? It looks very sturdy and heavy duty. All comments and advice appreciated.

Hey Jerry,
I do not have any experience with the Giottos and can't really answer your questions correctly.

I have the Manfrotto 190XPROB which is on sale at B&H for $159.95

Congratulations and good luck with your purchase.

This is the one I'm looking at local. The local one includes the upgraded carrying case which is 42US more plus shipping at B&H. I do use B&H when I can't find something local and highly recommend them.
Pete, she will never let me forget that I dropped $4,000 worth of new camera equipment...........
