Can anyone recommend a program for floor plan creation other than smart draw?  I downloaded the free trail and I found that the tools we're more difficult to manipulate than they should've been.  I currently just sketch rough plans in illustrator.  For my purpose, actual measurements and appliance details are not needed...I don't need all the bells and whistles smart draw offers.

thanks

please try to search tools for floor plan in this forum. Smooth or Dava has published simiar resolution before.

I think CAD may be a choice for you because it's really powerful.

I tried the search you suggested and it didn't turn up any results other than this post.  Isn't CAD a bit complex for my purposes?

CAD or SmartDraw, you'll have to study a little  There are no magic-wand software... I'd say that if you skip the not needed stuff from SmartDraw, it's the best tool for drawing floor plans.

Hi

I use floor plan 3d from www.imsisoft.com

I don't know if it is the best software for the purpose, but it is easy to use and you can also make floor plans in 3d by just 1 click.

OR

Hand draw them on a piece of paper.  Then take a photo of the paper drawing. Reuse the paper drawing photo in your web page.

I have played around with various programs to perform this task like Visio, and SmartDraw but the best for me has been FloorPlan3D by imsi

Version 11 has just been released. You can quickly design to scale detailed floor plans that can also be viewed in 3D.

I have not played with it a lot, but you might experiment with SketchUp by Google. It is a free 3D modeling program. I spent a few minutes looking at it the other day and was pretty impressed. You cann't bet the price if it works for you.
