I create and upload several different tours to my server using CuteFTP in ASCII mode - most tours work OK, but 1 tour will just not work for me, it goes into the same "tours" destination folder but when I put in the URL, and click the image to view the tour I either get a broken Java Cross in the top right hand corner, or some times it will begin to load and just hang up loading.

Here is a link to the tour:

http://www.360ocala.com/tours/cfcc/CFCC.html#

Here is what the Java Console is telling me:

Java Plug-in 1.6.0_02
Using JRE version 1.6.0_02 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
User home directory = C:\Documents and Settings\Virtual Tours

 ... 10 more

This is a link to the tour folder:

Note the question marks by the java files?

Here is a link to a working tour - it also shows question marks by the java files, but it works? http://www.360ocala.com/tours/croberts/110/Tour_cr0701.html

Any help would be very appreciated -

You only upload text based files in ASCII mode NOT the whole tour. You also should use the Encryption Security until you know 100% for sure you server supports it. You should not use CaPs in your file naming of use special characters. Use only English A-Z, a-z and 0-9.

Regards, Smooth

Smooth,

Thanks for the response - I have renamed the TW project using lowercase - I then went into CuteFTP Global Options settings and removed jpe, jar, and js from the ASCII Types directory. I then FTP'd and I get the same Java error as before. When you said in your reply about naming files in English with no special characters, does this include the individual scene names i.e. Bedroom_1 etc?

Thanks for the help (you are quicker than official TW Support)

I personally think you are better off downloading FileZilla Client FTP program. It's Free, and seems to deal with Tourweaver files in "Auto" mode much better than CuteFTP.

A .js file is in fact a text file. The .jpe files are image files.

As good practice you should always name files that are going to be placed on a server in lowercase stringed file names like bedroom_1, dining_room_1 etc. This is because all servers will respect this format. Some won't!

You are welcome to contact me via private message so I can offer you a way you can send me your tour for uploading and testing on my server if you like.

This would allow me to look for obvious errors and make sure the tour is uploaded correctly.

Regards, Smooth

Smooth,

I just sent you a message - thanks for your help - I just renamed some scenes - I had used the spacebar instead of underscore - the tour uploaded & now works:

Hi,

I replied to your Private Message with Instructions.

But now that it is working there is little need I guess.

Be very careful with your names and spaces and things go a lot smoother.

Works for me !

Regards, Smooth

In the above post you posted a link to http://360ocala.com/cfcc/cfcc2.html  what exactly is that for.  I am somewhat new at this and I usually ignore that when I publish my tours.

You must have had a lot of fun with the Central Florida Community College work.  Just curious why the layout is so small.

I know we did when we produced

http://360texas.com/virtualtour/texas/ucf/index.htm

Our effort was to create both full and small screen displays

http://360texas.com/virtualtour/texas/ucf/pages/index1.htm

Since that time we have upgraded our work flow to use Raw and HDR.

http://360texas.com/virtualtour/texas/stockyard/ttof/indextest.htm

Working towards moving to full screen and Flash version 9+
