I have something new for you to discuss ;-)
One day i opened google maps and saw that there is a possibility to get live (refreshing) (web) camera views at various places. Even in my town i have 3 camera views on google maps. I thought it would be nice to have a possibility to integrate it into virtual tours.
Even if you don't want to have something from maps, hotels, restaurants and other sometimes have web cameras placed in public areas.
In short, i have created a component to integrate live camera views which are generated as pictures. You can see it in action here: http://www.virtualivizija.lt/demo/livecam/
It features customizable camera links (passed through TW action), resizing and some other things.
yeah, i know ;)
Two things which i didn't mentioned:
1) the hardest part was kind of "bypassing Adobe security sandbox" to show images from external servers. If someone run into the same problem - i have a couple of tricks to share.
2) the next step in my plans (maybe for summer) is to make panorama and video camera view synth. Now that TW allows to shape swf applications i'll try to make live images will appear not on the popup window but directly on panorama where the action takes place.
To see what i'm talking about, look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfolwAPOO_g
You may start watching from the 3rd minute, and see what's happening at the 5th minute. Of course the whole stuff is too complex, but if we set some preconditions (like making panorama from the same place camera is translating) then we can achieve similar effects.
