Morning Smooth - hope I catch you on time.  I've been attempting to shorten the urls as we spoke about in our last conversation, but I'm getting stuck a bit.  I am publishing with the "auto flash/html5", so I want both to work.  I've been able to eliminate a few folders, but I'm wondering if it's even possible to eliminate the _auto folder to make the name that much shorter.  I think you said it was when we spoke... but everytime I do this - I get my friend to check on their iphone and it doesn't work...  I need the tours to work on both - iphone/pad AND computer.

so if I have a link such as this... (the link is broken btw - just using as an example)

http://www.caylex.ca/wilson/calais/_auto/flash/Caylex_calais_bbrook_1633.html

- is it possible to shorten it even further to this...

 http://www.caylex.ca/wilson/calais_bbrook_1633.html

AND have it work for both the iphone/pad AND a regular computer?

These were the steps I took (if the link were real)...

1.  publish "auto flash/html5)
2.  open _auto folder and delete the .html file titled... Caylex_calais_bbrook_1633
3.  open flash folder - rename needed .html to index.html
4.  cut and paste all files from this folder into _auto folder - delete the now empty flash folder|
5.  open html5 folder - rename needed .html to index.html
6.  go back into the _auto folder - cut the html5 folder and ALL of the files previously in the flash folder and past into the "wilson" folder (the above non-working link)

I'm trying to follow the instructions we spoke about, but I'm having a problem somewhere - and I'm not sure IF you can even eliminate the _auto folder...???  I should also mention, that as I'm looking through these threads - I've noticed that others are attempting to make the tour work on the iphone and running into trouble - so I suppose it's possible that I'm doing this all right and there's something else wrong...

Thanks as always Smooth! :)

Meant to mention - for anyone who might find it useful... the ONLY way I've so far been able to get my tours to work on the iphone/pad - is to have the person first download an app called "Proton" - it plays flash on the iphone/pad - and quite nicely actually.  The only problem is... I can't ask everyone that wants to watch my tour, to download that app first...

But... I would still like to figure out where exactly I'm going wrong with my above post.

Actually... while I'm here (should have done this before) I'll put some working tour links... might make a difference in helping me out with my previous post :)

A full link:

Removed the _auto folder (and all other folders after it)

Auto folder kept in...

http://www.caylex.ca/tours_cur/autokeptin/_auto/

AND _auto folder removed - another attempt...

Hi Charlie,

Take this for example:

http://www.caylex.ca/tours_cur/wilson/tm/calais/tr/_auto/

Rename the Caylex_calais_bbrook_1633.html (that resides within your "_auto" folder) to index.html

Place it and all contents (within the _auto folder) into the /tr/ folder and delete the _auto folder.

Now the URL would be:  http://www.caylex.ca/tours_cur/wilson/tm/calais/tr

You could do the same again with the /tr/ folder and the URL becomes:

http://www.caylex.ca/tours_cur/wilson/tm/calais

and so on and so forth.

Regards, Smooth [8D]

Hi Smooth - thank you as always :) - just to be clear when you say

"Rename the Caylex_calais_bbrook_1633.html (that resides within your _auto folder) to index.html"

Are you referring to the .html file that's in the _auto folder OR the _auto then flash folder?

AND

Do I do anything with the html5 folder (do I rename THAT html as index) - leave the html5 folder intact and then cut and paste all of the files from the flash folder AND the folder named html5 - into the tr folder?

I am probably making this more complicated then it needs to be lol!!!

Thanks Smooth :) - you're awesome as usual!!!

Now I just need someone to try this out on the iphone - my iphone contact is missing in action right now :( .  So... if anyone out there has an iphone and is willing to humor me please let me know if this damn thing works. And if it doesn't work.... I would be really interested in any suggestions :)

Hey Charlie,

Following the link from your last post on a PC using the Safari browser (5.1.2)...
Screen Shot

I've included a green arrow pointing to the address bar where it seems "flash" has been included.

To avoid having to contact your "iPhone friend" Safari will do the trick.
Helpful Link for testing tours on multiple devices. This is a simple test method that does not include touch, drag, pinch.

One thing to note, when using the Safari browser. If you have the flash plugin installed you will need
Click To Flash 2.6 to disable it in Safari.

Hope this helps

Regards, Pixel

Hi Charlie,

The good news is that the shortened URL works!

The bad news is that your tour is NOT HTML5 compliant.

Lots of features that work in Flash don't work in HTML5 like Thumbnails, Button States, Fullscreen and the like. These are things you must consider when producing tours for HTML5 devices.

In this case by choosing the HTML5 menu bar in the publish options will sort most issues but your will also need to remove items that have conflict with HTML5.

G'day Burnt,

The reason for the "flash" being shown in the URL is because the browser viewing (Safari) has been "sniffed" and reported that Flash is installed. If flash wasn't installed the URL would have been given as: http://www.caylex.ca/tours_cur/lowerresminusnextprev/html5/lowerres.html

Here is a wrap up for what is happening:

By clicking the url:

www.caylex.ca/tours_cur/lowerresminusnextprev

The browser is asked if Flash is installed, if the answer is yes your fed this URL destination:

http://www.caylex.ca/tours_cur/lowerresminusnextprev/flash/Caylex_lowerres.html

If the answer is no, you are fed this URL:

http://www.caylex.ca/tours_cur/lowerresminusnextprev/html5/lowerres.html

Tourweaver does this via the HTML page it creates within the "_auto" folder. With code that looks like this:

<html>
    <head>
     <META NAME="GENERATOR" Content="Tourweaver">
      <title>Virtual Tour Created By Easypano</title>
    </head>
    <body>
      <script type="text/javascript">
    var _url="";
    var _bi=window.navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase();
    if(_bi.indexOf("iphone")>0 || _bi.indexOf("ipad")>0 || _bi.indexOf("ipod")>0) _url="html5/lowerres.html";
    else _url="flash/Caylex_lowerres.html";
    window.location.title=_url;
      </script>
    </body>
</html>

Now, should you rename the html files "within" both the flash and html5 folders that are located within the "_auto" folder to index.html you also MUST change the names with the code shown above (with a HTML editor or Notepad etc) so that it reads:

<html>
<head>
<META NAME="GENERATOR" Content="Tourweaver">
<title>Virtual Tour Created By Easypano</title>
</head>
<body>
<script type="text/javascript">
var _url="";
var _bi=window.navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase();
if(_bi.indexOf("iphone")>0 || _bi.indexOf("ipad")>0 || _bi.indexOf("ipod")>0) _url="html5/
index.html";
else _url="flash/
index.html";
window.location.title=_url;
</script>
</body>
</html>

Then your URL for Flash will become:

http://www.caylex.ca/tours_cur/lowerresminusnextprev/flash/

and the HTML5 version URL will become:

http://www.caylex.ca/tours_cur/lowerresminusnextprev/html5
